Last week we held an indoor “Welcome to the Beach” party. Entering the auditorium, we were greeted by several palm trees, a pool, and a beach ball. Near this small oasis was a group of tables where we enjoyed beach themed snacks: tasty smoothies, beach cupcakes, sprinkled with gram crackers on top to appear like sand, topped with mini umbrellas, and finally a section for chips and dip.
Next to the tables was an imitation beach volleyball court. A few of the Residents and staff engaged in a laughter-filled game of volleyball there. There was a game of volleyball held around the tables as well, producing much hilarity as the ball would often soar so far over the players heads that no one could reach it. One of the ladies said the party made her feel young again. A lot of us were able to enjoy the fun and sing along with the Beach Boys. The party was enjoyed by all!
