The Residents were elated when they woke up Friday morning to find the promise of a Bronx Zoo outing rather than thunderstorms. Upon arrival we traversed through the wooded Zoo, enjoying the company of our wild animal friends. First stop was the sea lion pool. The Residents watched as trainers fed the sea lions and worked on exercises. It is good that our physical therapists don’t take any hints from these trainers. Our Residents would be doing serious back bends!!!
We also got to see this summer’s Lego exhibit. Thousands and thousands of Legos go into building life size animals. The construction was incredible. We had fun entertaining the gorillas, who were just as enthralled with us on the other side of the glass as we were with them.
Big thanks go out to the Bronx Zoo volunteers (Peggy Vega and friends) who directed us through the park and introduced us to the animals. Also a big thanks to our home volunteers Victoria, Emily and Michelle who with our staff helped roll the Residents all around the Zoo. It was an exciting visit and the Residents enjoyed the scenery and interesting exhibits.
