Our home was full of young spirited volunteers this week! From Tuesday through Thursday we welcomed 12 students of St. Francis Catholic High School from Sacramento, California. They were accompanied by Christian Service Campus Minister Miles Foley and Assistant to the President of their school Cindy Sandoval.
The all-female high school is centered on faith, excellence, leadership and service and our home was blessed by their witness to these qualities. The girls served throughout the whole home. The development office, garden, activities center, medical records, and housekeeping all benefitted from their loving service. The residents truly enjoyed their presence and the opportunity to share stories and a couple sunny afternoons with the girls. The girls also were a great help on our picnic outing this week at SUNY Maritime College.
We had an ice cream social to wrap up their time at the home. The girls had prepared a surprise for the sisters singing a version of “My Girl” for them and singing “You are my Sunshine” for the residents. The girl’s willingness and compassion was felt by the whole home and we are grateful for the time they were able to spend with us!
