On Thursday, May 23rd, we were blessed to have among us, Lidia Bastianich, for a book signing fundraiser for our home. The event was held at Marina del Rey. Lidia was both charming as well as practical. Speaking to us of her time as a child in a refugee camp, to a highlight in her life of being invited to cook for Pope Benedict XVI when he came to NY, her stories held us captivated. Having a strong family life herself, Lidia was quick to embrace the family spirit of our home and mission.
After the event, Lidia took the time to tour Jeanne Jugan Residence and stopped to chat with the Residents who were not able to join us for the event. Thanks to the generosity so many benefactors who sponsored a Resident for the event, 25 of them were able to attend. Thanks to all who made this such a great success!
