Many Irish and almost-Irish eyes were smiling this past Tuesday as our home celebrated the dedication of a lovely bird house and bird feeder for our dear friend Patrick Brady, who passed away this spring. Patrick was known for his unending loyalty to the birds who reside outside our home. He would feed them daily, his pockets always overflowing with muffins, bread, … spaghetti, vegetables…. anything he could salvage from his plate at mealtime. Father Dunn laughingly stated that even though we tried to make it illegal Patrick continued to feed the birds.
Patrick was loved by all throughout the home and brought the Irish springtime with him wherever he went. Many Residents attended the dedication where Father Dunn said a few words about Patrick and blessed the bird house and feeder which now sit to the left of the front of our home. The Residents sang, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling” in honor of Patrick and were overjoyed that the sun peaked out of the clouds just for the blessing. We are so very thankful for the donations that made purchasing the house, feeder and plaque for Patrick possible and for the life and light Patrick shared with us all. He is deeply missed by our community and hopefully the birds miss him a little less now that they have a delightful bird feeder in the garden.
