On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 we had the privilege to visit the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) with the help of a group of wonderful FOCUS students, thanks to our friend Clarissa Bronfman.
To start, a gracious tour guide enchanted us with explanations on the life and works of Henri-Émile-Benoît Matisse (Swimming Pool) and compared them to those of Claude Monet (Reflections of Clouds on the Water-Lily Pond). We were all captivated by this extraordinary tryptic masterpiece.
Then we strolled about and explored collections from Jackson Pollock, Picasso, Van Gogh, and many others.
We were delighted with the sixties exhibit as well as Broodthaer’s egg shell and mussel art. Students and Residents were enthralled with the trip, particularly resident artists Carmeta Mills and Cathy Mulvihille, as well as the students with friends and family members who are currently art majors.
