On Wednesday, August 19, members of the The Blacklist crew (electricians, sound specialists, transportation specialists, makeup artists, costume staff, set decorators, etc.) invaded Jeanne Jugan Residence for the scene construction and subsequent rehearsal and filming of portions of a new episode for Season 3 of this hit crime television series. The crew arrived with large trucks containing stretchers, wheelchairs, waiting room chairs, and many others props to convert our back entrance into what resembled a real ER. Over 80 well-organized workers arrived to set up, coordinate, and assist the director and actors to film a few scenes from this year’s episode 3.
It was thrilling for staff, residents, sisters, and volunteers to see the filming of such a popular show firsthand. In fact, Sit and Be Fit took place in front of the windows overlooking the scene so that residents could be ready as soon as the action began. For the scene, an undercover cop is shot and brought to the ER (our home) to receive care for serious chest wounds. He is lifted onto a stretcher and rushed into the ER and attended to by medical personnel. This was repeated several times until done satisfactorily. Then, an additional 2 scenes with the main stars (Megan Boone and James Spader) were shot from within a vehicle. All were fascinated to see the manner in which the scenes were orchestrated and filmed and to see all that went into completing just a small portion of an episode.
We were pleased to encounter one of the main stars (James Spader), as well as the undercover cop who was shot, and the doubles for the main actors (Matt Triplett and Ashley Pynn). All the crew members were so courteous and friendly. We hope they will be back again! The episode is due to air this October.
